Samsung is ready to release GDDR6 next-gen graphics card, becoming the first company to mass produce GDDR6 memory chips.
SK Hynix and Micron, which are among the big players in the market, are beaten in the competition of producing GDDR6 memory chips by Samsung.
According to Samsung Newsroom, the company announced that it has already started the mass production of the industry's first 16 Gigabit GDDR6 memory for advanced graphics processing which will bring a massive change in the gaming and it will also be used in automotives and artificial intelligence systems.
The chip will be built upon Samsung's advanced 10nm class process technology and will be the double of the company's 20nm 8 Gb GDDR5 memory. The new memory will perform at an 18 gigabits per second pin speed with data transfer of 72 gigabytes per second. The chip will be less power consuming, approximately 35 per cent lower than the widely used GDDR5.
Samsung's GDDR6 will be able enough for 8K Ultra HD videos processing, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and in the field of artificial intelligence.
